Welcome to our year 11 class. As the oldest pupils at The River Centre, we pride ourselves on representing the school as role models that younger pupils can look up to.

Our curriculum focus is on life and social skills. We are working towards qualifications that will prepare us to leave school and move onto further education and continue into adult life.

We are taught by a small team who all work together to provide a fun and well-rounded curriculum tailored to our individual needs.

While completing these qualifications, some of us also attend ARC where we work on additional qualifications such as the CSCS card, health and safety and manual handling. We have also enjoy volunteering with organisations such as Volunteer It Yourself, the Fire Service and other groups in the local area.

To keep ourselves healthy, we also enjoy sessions in the nearby Ebbw Vale Sports Centre/Gym and at Bryn Bach Park for outdoor and adventurous activities including Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Raft-building and Paddleboarding!

We have regular visits from local companies to discuss our future, meet regularly with the Careers Wales and our onsite youth worker and engage in curriculum opportunities with organisations such as the St Giles trust, Media Academy Cymru and Ash Cymru.
