Year 10
My name is Gavin Williams and I am the new teacher of Year 9. I am delighted to continue as their teacher in the new academic year. I am supported by Mr Shaun Geary who has significant experience in the area of SEBD and working with challenging behaviour and developing relationships with vulnerable pupils.
Despite the year group not officially a cohort of the new Curriculum of Wales, they will be taught with a broad and balanced approach. Consequently, they will be exposed to the six Areas of Learning Experience (Expressive Arts, Mathematics and Numeracy, Languages, Literacy, and Communication, Health and Well Being, Science and Technology, Humanities) as well as working toward GCSE and equivalent qualifications in GCSE/ Entry Level English, GCSE/ Entry Level Mathematics, Equality and Diversity, and The Prince’s Trust.
Several pupils in the year group are long-term participants in the ARC construction provision at Crumlin Heritage Site. They are learning to be proficient at driving large plant vehicles, labouring, carpentry, and other trades that are needed on a construction site. The main objective is to gain enough knowledge and experience to obtain a CSCS card at the age of 16. This will allow an individual to legally work on any construction site in the United Kingdom.
