Welcome to Dosbarth Melyn’s section of the website.

We are a year four/five class here at The River Centre 3-16 Learning Community and look forward to sharing our learning journey with you.

‘In Dosbarth Melyn, myself, Mr Mates, supported by Miss Fear will engage and challenge your child in their learning using a range of teaching strategies and up-to-date learning resources in line with the Curriculum for Wales. We pride ourselves on encouraging learners to ‘grow into’ our class and to express their individual personalities through the way they decorate their allocated trays and tables, and encouraging them to pride themselves in who they are and what they bring to our class. Each learner is an individual as well as a vital part of the school family. Our learners voices are important and in Dosbarth Melyn we encourage our learners to use their voices.

We encourage activities and lessons guided by our learners. Within lessons we ensure all activities are differentiated and accessible to all learners and the responses from this inform future planning. All of our lessons are underpinned by the four purposes and experiential learning to ensure all our learners get the best start in life and are prepared to excel in locally and globally. Within the class learners have access to iPads, Minecraft lessons and a book corner with books to suit their tastes to encourage reading. Furthermore, our learners are working with Microbit technology and in 2024 will be branching into new technologies and approaches to ensure they have the greatest start.
